Post Easter, the sporting calendar picks up in April with key events across various sports. Australia officially kicks off the Commonwealth Games on 4th April in Gold Coast. This is a multi-sport event with 71 participating nations and 26 approved sports included in the games schedule.

The Rugby Sevens tour moves to Asia with the series playing in Hong Kong & Singapore on the 6th & 28th April respectively. The Women’s Rugby Seven series will tour Japan on 21st April.

Apart from regular football league season in action across the globe, this month will see a number of women championship tournaments. Jordan is hosting the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup and will run from the 6th to 20th April. Japan holds the 2014 AFC championship and will be looking to retain the title this year.

Chile plays host to the 2018 Copa América Femenina between 4th to 22nd April which comprises of 10 teams. Brazil have won the championships record 6 times and will be looking to retain the title as the tournament heavyweights.

Nicaragua plays host to 2018 CONCACAF Women U-17 Championships which will run between 19th to 29th April. The tournament runs every 2 years with USA being the current champions.

Tennis action this month will see the Monte-Carlo Masters played in Monaco on outdoor clay courts starting 15th April. Rafael Nadal has been seeded 1 with runner-up for the 2018 Australian Open, Marin Čilić, seeded 2nd.

To round up the action, Russia will host the 2018 IIHF World U18 Championships on 19th April with 10 teams participating in this year’s championships.
